Washed an electric blanket, now it's all oily?

I followed the care instructions on the electric blanket to wash on gentle. I thought the detergent was still all over it, so i rinsed it again, but when I pulled it out and let it air dry I realized it was covered in some really thick oil! Did something burst? Also there seem to be some dark purple smudges on the blanket. I know there was nothing in the washer before I put it in, and there is nothing in there now. I am not sure why this yellow electric blanket is now covered in oil and some purple smears. What do I do now?Washed an electric blanket, now it's all oily?
Did you use HOT water or HOT dryer? That could have melted the wiring inside and caused it to become sticky.Washed an electric blanket, now it's all oily?
Throw it out, something broke. Do not take a chance on something as dangerous as this could be, it might possibly electrocute the user. They are costly, but buy another one.
