I buy parts from www.repairclinic.com. They need the model # and you just answer the questions. I have bought many parts from them over the last few years. There is also a toll-free #. do a google search for general electric washing machine and repairs in your area
GE has one of the better single-manufacturer part ordering sites. You will need to find the model number to order from the GE site. The model number should be on a silver label and will be a long string of letters and digits and marked ';model number';. Try looking for the label at the back of the machine just behind the control panel. Be careful to distinguish between zeros versus Os and fives versus Ss when you note down the model number.

Although I've used the GE site to order parts before, I've switched to RepairClinic.com. They have multiple ways of finding parts and have full color pictures of most parts to help you make a positive identification before you buy.
Find the model number of your appliance by checking the owners manual or checking the appliance itself.

Sears has a lot of these on-line. You can look up the part# and order parts both.
