When cutting a dogs hair with electric clippers should I wash her first?

I have a silkie/yorkie mix puppy whose hair I will be cutting myself. I'll be using electric clipper and know I need to brush her first. But, should I wash her hair, dry it and brush it before I use the clippers, or should I wash her afterwards? Many thanks for your answers. When cutting a dogs hair with electric clippers should I wash her first?
You can bathe before or after. If you do bathe her first, make sure the coat is completely dry. Damp hair can clog the clipper and make it pull the coat instead of cutting it. Dirty coat will dull your balde faster, so that may be a concern.

Also, be very careful to watch the blade to make sure it isn't getting hot. A hot blade can burn your pup and make the whole grooming experience negative.

If you haven't groomed a dog before, you might want to get an expert to show you how. Its not rocket science, but there are ways to make it easier on the dog. When cutting a dogs hair with electric clippers should I wash her first?
I would wash it after the clip. This will remove any loose clippings still remaining as well as sooth any razor burn o the close clipped areas.
Brush. Clip. Bath. Dry. Brush.
I always clip my dog first and then bathe her. That way any loose hair and dirt can be washed away. It's also just much nicer to follow up the haircut with a nice relaxing bath.

What I do is wash the dog before and after, I do this because it makes it easy to cut the hair when it is clean. Than after because it gets all the loose hair off and it makes the dog feel better.
No you don't need to but if you have water proof clippers then wash her and cut her fur so its easier for you and the dog. I would reccomend you don't wash her just cut her fur then give her a bath after your done.
My friend is a groomer and I have helped her many times. You would brush the fur and clip the hair first, then wash the dog. After the dog is completely dry you can tidy up any ';errors';. Washing after the cut eliminates hair clippings from getting all over the place and irritating the dog.
wash first...dry then clip. dirty hair will dull clipper blades quickly resulting in uncomfortable clipping and a bad cut. be sure to frequently oil your clipper blades during the clipping so the blades do not overheat and burn your dog.
No, It would be best to cut then wash to get the access fur off. I hope that your dog feels clean and refreshed!
Clip first then bath. She'll feel like she's at the spa and getting the best rub down. If you clip before even thought you think it's dry is could be a little damp and rust the clippers, clogg them up quicker and could pull the hair.
Depends on how short your cutting it, I shave my dogs down all the way to reduce sheding. Than I bathe them so the loose fur dosen't get every where, but if your doing a trim like her paws, or eyes. Than you can bath them frist if you like.
Professional groomers usually clip first and bathe last.
