After it has finished its cycle, this happens when she is in bare feet, the washing machine is in our outside coal shed, is this normal? My wife keeps getting electric shocks from our washing machine,?
You may have a bit of a problem here sunshine or are you trying to get rid of her?My wife keeps getting electric shocks from our washing machine,?
it could just be static
wear some foot wear to avoid static
No it is not ';normal'; there is obviously something wrong with your machine, You need to have it checked by a qualified engineer
Next Question
My wife was electrocuted by our washing machine, should there not have been some sort of warning prior to this happening?
make sure it's earthed right and tell her to wear shoes. i think it's just static but to be on the safe side don't you touch it your wife seems to be able to handle it
Not earthed correctly.
Probably static electrisdcity your bare footed wife is earthing the static built up in the machine With shoes it should not happen .
could be a broken wire somewhere i had a problem like this with my pond and it was a lose wire shortening out it was everytime i put my hand in the water replaced the pump no problems afterwards
No as you very well know getting electric shocks whilst doing our day to day chores is not ';normal';
I'm surprised she ';keeps'; getting shocks...I'd have a new one by the second shock..Get someone in or the machine out
you would need to call an electrician to check it out..........Please let her go to the Laundromat until this problem is solved
did he pull out the dishwasher to make sure nothing is touching a place where the cord is in water. My bunn is leaking and the only time it happens to me is when i don't get the water up before it touches the cord. after i get the water up and away from the cord it does not happen. Pull it out and make sure your not haveing a small water leak behind or under or on side where the power supply is. You may need a plumber.
Good Grief! No it is not normal!!!
this is static without a doubt. you would know if you had a electric shock, trust me.
james is right the earthing connecton has either come apart or a loose connection. you will need to make sure the earth is ok at the socket first. if it is then it is the washing machine. get a electrician in to test the socket then go from there
It sounds like the machine has lost it's earth connection. There might be a fault in the wiring of the machine itself or the socket it is plugged into. I would advise buying a socket tester which you plug into the socket and lights up. this will tell you if the fault is with your electric supply or the machine.
ie - if the lights all come on then there is a problem with the machine, which will mean having to call an engineer out to look at your machine.
I would advise your wife not to go out in her bare feet.
She will still get a shock mind but would be better to wear rubber soled shoes.
or is it you want her out of the way - which in that case pour water over the floor first!!!
That was a joke by the way!
Have fun!
No. not normal. I believe #1 may be your solution.
1) Check if grounding wire is still connected; may have worked loose from a spin cycle. Found in back of machine
%26amp; loose wire will have circle at end of about 5'; wire.
Connect wire to METAL of machine to ground it.
2) check 'cord' to plug in and washer for damage. This would be severe problem with a 220 voltage (this voltage could kill).
3) check for electrical short in internal wires; if not savy on this, call washer repair technician.
4) put rubber mat in front of washer for future.
Perhaps it's time you started doing the washing?
Tell her to stop being so negative.
And lazy @ss husband, ground the damn machine.
