Washing machine and dryer tripping the electric?

Any guidance on why when i put on my washing machine and separate condenser dryer on, the electric trips off. Plug from dryer does get hot. Just means washing clothes takes twice as long.

I once had a similar problem. My cooker tripped the electrics every time I cooked pasta. Eventually I discovered that two wires in the back were trapped close together when the cooker backplate was screwed in place. Maybe the plastic casing on the wire was cracked because if the pasta boiled over there was just enough moisture to bridge the tiny gap between the two wires and Bingo! No electrics! By leaving the backplate (aluminium sheet covering the works) off, the wires had more space and there was no problem. I probably should have had the wiring re-done or insulated better but my solution worked for me.

I wonder if your washer has either a leak or steam is escaping and doing something similar with the dryer. Electricians didn't find the fault on my cooker, it was a long slow process of elination on my part after they had given up and scratched their heads - but it saved me buying a new cooker. I would recommend using an electrician if you can for safety's sake though.

You are overloading the circuit.Try unplugging the dryer when washing or vice versa.it sounds as if you may need to update your electrical box.
If it goes off it is a protection mechanism and means there is a problem you have to fix somewhere for your safety. You have to bring someone preferably to check it.

If you have a connection extension, there could be a problem with it. Try changing it. If not then you need to have an electrician come in to check it and if that fails it will means something is wrong with the machine.
The electrical element has most likely corroded due to lime scale causing a short circuit, or a motor fault would cause a RCD to trip.

I would get a maintenance bloke to check it out for safety reasons.
Firstly (if not a moulded plug) take the plug apart to see if it looks to be overheating (brittle strands and discoloured metal/plastic sleeving).

Is it just the one circuit or is it the double-width RCD which trips?
it sounds like you have too much running off of that one breaker and you will probably have to get a larger breaker to handle it all. Good luck!
If you don't have enough voltage to the outlet, it will trip the breaker. I have the same problem. All I do is wash a load, put it in the dryer(don't turn on yet), fill the washer for another load and let the load soak while I dry the first load. I know it sounds like a lot of trouble, but if you don't want to fix the electrical problem, then you have to do something, huh.
If it keeps tripping and the plug is hot, you should not use it. However it could just be a loose wire in the plug, take the back of and check this, even it the wires look OK tightened the screws.
This happened to me. It was a burnt out wire in the washing machine.I had to call out the repair guy and he fixed it.Cost 60 EUR.
Try plugging in to a different outlet on another circuit (use a heavy duty extension cord--just temporarily, mind you)--if the problem does not continue, it's a problem with the electrical service at the house. If the problem does continue, it's your appliance.

In any event, you need to fix that. It's a fire hazard. Take care of yourself now, and don't leave those appliances running unattended.
